A representative for BlueStar Management, Inc. (Whole Foods project) has offered to give a presentation at the meeting, is anyone interested? He may be able to talk about their other project as well (Gateway Center on ex-Huling showroom site).

I am already having a problem with the Whole Foods project site. West Seattle Bowl has a Diamond Parking lot that their patrons do not use. They are all parking on residential streets. I can barely get out of my alley.

I know we are all fashionably green and concerned about peds now, but parking is still super important. Most people drive from their homes to the Junction to shop or eat. If these developers don’t provide sufficient parking, we will end up with more Diamond lots, and the city will come running in right behind Joe Diamond with their meters. We’ll end up just like Freemont and Ballard.

So does that mean you are in favor of the rep from BuleStar coming to our meeting?

  4. JoAnne Butzerin Says:

Yes, I think so. I heard today that Whole Foods has an employee directing traffic at the Queen Anne store. I don’t know a lot of details about any of these projects, but I think they should plan something like that for us.

I also hope they plan for ample free parking for customers and make sure parking lot entrances are NOT on residential streets. I would like to hear their response to those issues.

I would like to know if there are plans for creating an RPZ (residential parking zone) for the Junction Neighborhood. The West Seattle Merchants Association is a great neighbor in providing 3 hour parking, which helps the situation immensely. I’m happy to see our neighborhood grow and thrive. However, I’m a resident who only has street parking and it’s is getting harder to find, especially during peak hours. Given that the city calls for shared public space, with all the new construction, businesses, traffic. I think waiting on the City to complete their survey project will provide solutions too late for neighborhood residents. I’d be glad to help champion this project with Juno. Thanks!
